On March 3, Chairman of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) Sergei Naryshkin said that “so far, there is no need” to send Russian armed forces into Ukraine.

“The decision grants the right to use armed forces if necessary, but at the moment this is not necessary,” Naryshkin said in an interview with Rossiya-24 TV channel.

On the same day, Russia said that NATO's criticism of its activities in Crimea would not help stabilize the situation in Ukraine after the bloc said Moscow had threatened peace and security in Europe.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated: “We believe that this stance will not help stabilize the situation in Ukraine and will only encourage forces that want to exploit current events to achieve their irresponsible political goals.”./.
