President wishes Vietnamese ethnic community a Happy New Year

On February 20, President Truong Tan Sang visited and wished a Happy New Year to the Vietnamese ethnic community at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.

More than 200 delegates of village elders, village chiefs, religious dignitaries, intellectuals, artisans, representing 19 ethnic groups living at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism expressed their gratitude for the attention of the Party and State leaders, affirming that the President's visit is a source of encouragement and praise for prestigious people in the Vietnamese ethnic community who have made achievements in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups on the occasion of Tet.

Delegates expressed their hope that the Party and State would create conditions to organize many cultural activities, contributing to the exchange of feelings between ethnic groups, encouraging the spirit of welcoming the New Year with a new spirit.

Also present at the meeting, representatives of overseas Vietnamese returning to Vietnam to celebrate Tet expressed their gratitude for being given the opportunity by the Party and State to meet with representatives of the Vietnamese ethnic community, affirming the truth that Vietnam is one, the Vietnamese people are one.

Speaking intimately with the ethnic people, President Truong Tan Sang said that the Vietnamese ethnic community had a warm Tet holiday after a year of striving to overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieving many achievements in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The President said that with the efforts of the people, the Party, the State, organizations in the political system at all levels, sectors, localities, businesses and philanthropists have cared for, helped and created conditions for people of all ethnic groups across the country to have a warm and meaningful traditional Tet holiday.

On behalf of the Party and State, the President acknowledged and commended the sense of responsibility and the specific and meaningful actions of collectives and individuals with the poor and disadvantaged people in remote, border and island areas to celebrate the national New Year together.

The President visited the religious works of the Cham and Khmer people in the Cultural Tourism Village and attended the Neu lowering ceremony - a fine traditional ritual, signaling the end of the happy days of Tet and the beginning of a new year of work and production, solemnly held at the Cultural Tourism Village Square.

The President affirmed that cultural identity is the spiritual foundation and driving force for the development of the Vietnamese people. A Vietnam with the strength of national unity has overcome all difficulties and challenges throughout thousands of years of building and defending the country. Vietnamese history has witnessed that in the most difficult times and most difficult situations, national unity and pride have become the internal strength for our nation to firmly overcome all challenges and obstacles, survive and continuously develop.

Cultural activities during traditional Tet holidays not only enrich spiritual life but also contribute to consolidating and enhancing solidarity and national pride, giving the nation more strength to enter new springs and reach new horizons.

The President requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations and people of all ethnic groups nationwide to continue their efforts to contribute to economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, improving people's knowledge, material and spiritual life, preserving and promoting the cultural identity and fine traditions of ethnic groups; and constantly consolidating and strengthening the great solidarity bloc of Vietnamese ethnic groups./.
