It is expected that on October 7 and 8, President Truong Tan Sang will meet with leaders of 21 APEC member economies to discuss and decide on many agenda items, aiming at the goal of connecting economic growth and resolving international and regional issues of concern.
Taking place in the context of many fluctuations in the world's political and economic situation: the world's economic recovery is not yet sustainable, the Doha round of negotiations is still stagnant, with the theme "A resilient Asia-Pacific: The driving force of global growth," the 21st APEC Summit will focus on discussing three key issues: The current global economic situation and APEC's role in promoting the multilateral trading system; APEC's vision on connectivity in the evolving international and regional structure; Sustainable growth associated with equity: food security, water resources and energy.
The activities of President Truong Tan Sang and the Vietnamese delegation aim to continue to strongly implement the proposed foreign policy of proactively and actively integrating into the world, valuing the role of cooperation mechanisms in Asia-Pacific, and officially announcing that Vietnam will host the APEC Summit in 2017./.
