President inspects S300 training missile complex

President Truong Tan Sang inspected the combat readiness training session of Vietnam's most modern missile complex.

On the afternoon of January 27, President Truong Tan Sang and his delegation visited and extended New Year greetings to officers and soldiers of Regiment 64, Division 361 (Air Defense - Air Force).

After inspecting the training session on the combat readiness status of the S300-PMU1 missile complex at the Regiment's battlefield, the President commended and highly appreciated the efforts of the 361st Air Defense Division in general and the 64th Regiment in particular for upholding the heroic tradition, making many achievements in receiving and quickly mastering modern weapons, completing training, and achieving high combat readiness, directly contributing to preserving peace and the country's independence and sovereignty.

Regiment 64 was established at the end of December 2013 on the basis of merging Battalion 5 and Battalion 172 into Air Defense Missile Regiment 64. This is one of the first mixed regiments of the Air Defense - Air Force, including S300-PMU1 missile complex, A89 low-altitude missile, Zcy-23 self-propelled anti-aircraft artillery.

The establishment of Regiment 64 aims to increase mobility, combat readiness and combat in complex combat conditions, to cope with enemy air raids; to build the Service and Division in a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern direction, to meet the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

In 2009, as the Standing Member of the Secretariat, when visiting and inspecting the 64th Air Defense Missile Group, Mr. Truong Tan Sang advised: "In all situations, maintain the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of our beloved Fatherland."
