President Luong Cuong presents the Ho Chi Minh Medal to the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force.
On the afternoon of March 26, the Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force's Traditional Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025) and receive the Ho Chi Minh Medal awarded to the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force.

Comrade Luong Cuong - Politburo member, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, Commander-in-Chief of the People's Armed Forces attended and delivered a speech at the Celebration Ceremony.
General Phan Van Giang - Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense chaired the ceremony.
Attending the ceremony were former Politburo members and former Ministers of National Defense: General Pham Van Tra - former Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Party Committee; General Ngo Xuan Lich - former Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission; General Do Ba Ty - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, former member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission, former Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, former Deputy Minister of National Defense.
Also attending the ceremony were: Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; members of the Party Central Committee, leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, heads of units under the Ministry of National Defense, representatives of leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches.

Militia is the iron wall of the Fatherland
At the ceremony, General Phan Van Giang read a commemorative speech, reviewing the glorious history of 90 years of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force.
Accordingly, over the past 90 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam,MilitiaThe Vietnamese Self-Defense Forces are always united, loyal to the Fatherland, the People, and the Party's revolutionary cause; fight steadfastly, intelligently, and courageously; work, study, and perform effectively and creatively, and achieve many great feats.

MilitiaThe self-defense force lives and fights in the hearts of the people, is loved and protected by the people, inherits and promotes the patriotism and military art of the Vietnamese people, overcomes countless hardships and challenges, together with other forces and the people, makes great victories in the cause of national liberation, defending the Fatherland and fulfilling glorious international obligations.
The great merits and glorious achievements of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force have contributed to the cause of national liberation in the past as well as to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland today, as affirmed by President Ho Chi Minh: "The Militia, Self-Defense Force and Guerrillas are the forces of the entire nation, an invincible force, an iron wall of the Fatherland. No matter how ferocious the enemy is, if they come into contact with that force, that wall, any enemy will have to disintegrate."
In recognition of its great contributions and glorious achievements, the Militia and Self-Defense Force was awarded the Gold Star Order by the Party and State (in 2015); 370 collectives and 284 officers and soldiers of the Militia and Self-Defense Force through the periods were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
Continue to build a "strong and widespread" militia and self-defense force

Presenting the Ho Chi Minh Order to the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force and speaking at the ceremony, President Luong Cuong warmly congratulated the outstanding achievements, remarkable growth and glorious tradition of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force over the past 90 years.
President Luong Cuong stated: Our Party and State attach great importance to and are steadfast in the policy of building an all-people national defense and a people's war posture associated with building a solid people's security, people's security posture and "people's hearts posture". In that strategic posture, the Militia and Self-Defense Force is always a force with an extremely important strategic position and is the most suitable form of organization to implement the policy of all-people national defense and people's war.
In the coming time, all levels and sectors from the central to local levels; the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense and the militia and self-defense forces need to continue to thoroughly grasp and effectively organize the implementation of the Party's directives and resolutions, policies and laws of the State; especially the military and defense strategies; policies and laws on the Militia and Self-Defense Forces. Strengthen the work of State management while focusing on leading, directing, and closely and effectively implementing the work of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces.

The President also requested the need to build a militia force with appropriate numbers, reasonable structure, and increasingly high overall quality, first of all political quality. Organize and implement well the motto "strong and widespread", focusing on improving the overall quality and combat readiness of the regular, mobile, and on-site militia in strategic areas; build regular militia fleets and regular militia combat posts on land borders associated with adjacent residential areas, well meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.
At the same time, organize militia forces to participate in the fight against the wrong views of hostile forces against the Party, State and Army, contributing to firmly protecting the Party's ideological foundation; improve the quality of activities of military Party cells at commune and ward levels and the work of developing party members in the militia and self-defense force.
President Luong Cuong requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to advise the Party and the State on policies and solutions, and direct localities, agencies and organizations to ensure full regimes and policies for the Militia and Self-Defense Forces, especially in disadvantaged localities. Continue to focus on investing funds and ensuring the best conditions for the Militia and Self-Defense Forces to operate more effectively./.
