This morning, President Tran Dai Quang visited and extended New Year greetings to ethnic people at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism on the occasion of the beginning of the Year of the Rooster 2017.
In order to honor the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups and contribute to strengthening national unity, at the "common home" of the community of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups, the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village, the festival "Spring Colors in All Regions of the Fatherland" was held on February 4 and 5 (ie the 8th and 9th of the first lunar month).

Speaking at the festival, President Tran Dai Quang emphasized: “Every time Tet comes, our people, whether old or young, whether on the border or on islands, whether at home or abroad, regardless of their beliefs or religions, all of us turn to our roots, our homeland and our country. That is a precious cultural tradition of the Vietnamese people, nurtured throughout the thousands of years of building and defending the country.”
The President also expressed his joy at meeting village elders, village chiefs, artisans, religious dignitaries, prestigious representatives of ethnic groups, regions and our compatriots abroad who returned to their homeland to celebrate Tet on the first day of the new year.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Tran Dai Quang sent his warm regards, warmest sentiments and best wishes for the New Year to his compatriots.
The President affirmed that since its inception and throughout the process of leading the revolution, the Communist Party of Vietnam has always identified the issue of ethnicity, ethnic work and national unity as having an important strategic position in our country's revolution. After more than 30 years of implementing the renovation process, especially since the Resolution 24-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee (9th tenure) on ethnic work, mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas have had positive and important changes.
About 190 people are representatives of village elders, typical village chiefs, intellectuals, and artisans of 16 ethnic communities of 16 provinces representing ethnic groups and regions of the whole country: Ha Nhi ethnic group (Lai Chau), Pu Peo (Ha Giang), O Du (Nghe An), Ma (Lam Dong), Cham (An Giang), Dao ethnic group (Hanoi), Tay (Thai Nguyen), Muong (Hoa Binh), Kho Mu (Son La), Thai (Nghe An), Gie Trieng (Kon Tum), Ba Na (Gia Lai), E De (Dak Lak), Cham (Binh Thuan), Khmer (Soc Trang), Ta Oi (Thua Thien - Hue); students of the Northwest College of Culture and Arts.
The Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism also introduces and recreates typical traditional New Year customs and performs folk songs, dances, ethnic games, and ethnic cuisine on New Year's Day of the ethnic communities mobilized in the spaces of ethnic houses, ethnic villages, and the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, typically the village worship ceremony of the Thai ethnic group in Dien Bien province.
