President visits 1,400-year-old ancient town in Fujian

The 38-hectare Tam Phuong That Huong Ancient Town is considered a museum of Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture, famous for preserving fossils and traditional urban quarters.

Within the framework of his state visit to China, on May 13, President Tran Dai Quang and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited Fujian province.

After attending the Vietnam - China (Fujian) economic and trade cooperation seminar and visiting the Fuzhou Administrative Service Center, the President's delegation visited the ancient quarter of Tam Phuong That Huong with a history of 1,400 years in Fuzhou City (capital of Fujian Province).

This 38-hectare old town is considered a museum of Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture. Famous for its fossils and traditional Chinese urban quarters dating back to the Tang Dynasty (618), the Three Quarters and Seven Fragrance Towns were recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage site in 2013.

The delegation of the President also visited and inquired about the Quang Ninh tourism exhibition booth in Tam Phuong That Huong. This booth displayed typical images of the landscape, culture and people of Vietnam such as Ha Long Bay, Ao Dai, conical hats, etc.

In addition, the President also visited the intangible heritage site, watched a Fujian opera performance, and learned how to make and enjoy Fujian specialty tea.
