President receives Macedonian Foreign Minister
According to President Truong Tan Sang, the two countries need to further promote economic and trade cooperation.
Yesterday afternoon (November 12), at the Presidential Palace, the President received Mr. Nikola Poposki, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.
At the reception, President Truong Tan Sang welcomed Minister Nikola Poposki to Vietnam. The President emphasized the good friendship between the two countries and expressed his delight at Macedonia's recent socio-economic achievements. The President said that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has not yet matched their potential. Therefore, the two sides need to further promote economic and trade cooperation. In particular, the two sides need to review existing documents and promptly sign new cooperation agreements such as the Economic Cooperation Agreement, the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, etc. The two countries also need to promptly open trade representative offices in economic centers, while creating favorable conditions for governments and friendship organizations of the two countries' provinces and cities to enhance mutual understanding and exchange in order to promote relations between the two countries in all fields.
Affirming close and effective cooperation in regional and international forums, the President hoped that Macedonia would support Vietnam's candidacy for non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 term and the United Nations Economic and Social Council for the 2016-2018 term.
Minister Nikola Poposki expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam and believed that the visit would contribute to strengthening the good cooperative relationship between the two countries. The Minister informed some results of the talks with Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and affirmed that the two sides had agreed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, including considering signing a number of investment protection agreements, avoiding double taxation, and trade cooperation to open up new cooperation opportunities to bring economic and trade commensurate with the potential of the two countries.
The Minister introduced to the President the outstanding socio-economic situation of Macedonia and expressed his impression of Vietnam's development achievements, including maintaining the attraction of foreign investment. The Minister affirmed that this would be a good experience for Macedonia in the context of the current difficult world economic situation.
The Minister conveyed the invitation of the President of Macedonia to President Truong Tan Sang to visit Macedonia in the near future./.
