President receives Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation

On the afternoon of July 25, President Tran Dai Quang had a meeting with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation who is visiting and working in our country.

President Tran Dai Quang welcomed General Patrusev Nikolai Platonovich, Secretary of the Security Council, and the high-ranking delegation of the Security Council of the Russian Federation to visit Vietnam.

Highly appreciated the significance of the visit in consolidating and enhancing the cooperative relationship between the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam and the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The President was pleased to announce that during his official visit to the Russian Federation at the end of June, he had substantive and effective talks with President V. Putin and leaders of the Russian Federation; agreed to evaluate the results achieved in cooperation between the two countries, major directions and specific solutions to promote bilateral cooperation in the coming time.

President Tran Dai Quang stated that Vietnam always wishes and does its utmost to work with the Russian Federation to promote bilateral cooperation in an increasingly deep and effective manner, bringing practical benefits to both sides. The President hoped that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of National Defense would continue to closely cooperate with relevant agencies of the Russian Federation for the interests and national security of each country. At the same time, he requested that the Russian Federation continue to support the training of officials for Vietnam's defense and security sectors; and expand training specialties according to Vietnam's needs.

The President stressed that Vietnam attaches importance to the role of the Russian Federation in the Asia-Pacific region and supports enhancing Russia's role in regional security forums. The President said that the active and constructive participation of the Russian Federation in maintaining peace and stability in the region, including the East Sea, as well as cooperation activities in the field of maritime security, is of great significance.

The President highly appreciated the Russian Federation's stance on the East Sea, supporting the settlement of disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, in the spirit of the DOC and towards the COC.

The President asked the General, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, to continue to pay attention to leading and directing relevant agencies of the Russian Federation to effectively cooperate with the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam in the fight against crime, protecting security and order in each country, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Mr. Patrusev Nikolai Platonovich expressed his pleasure to meet President Tran Dai Quang again in his new position; conveyed President Putin's greetings to the President and said that President Putin highly appreciated the President's visit to the Russian Federation last June; believed that cooperation between the two countries in all fields, especially in the fields of security and defense, would continue to develop.

Informing the President of the results of his talks with leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Public Security today, Mr. Patrusev Nikolai Platonovich hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would need to increase information exchange and cooperate more closely in the fight against crime and protecting security and order in each country./.
