Russian Defense Ministry Intercepts Dozens of Drones Attacking Crimea
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 3, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Ukrainian forces launched another coordinated attack on the Crimean Peninsula. This source claimed that Russian air defense forces destroyed dozens of hostile drones overnight.

“An attempt by the Kiev authorities to carry out a terrorist attack using 38 drones was thwarted,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. It added that all hostile targets were destroyed by its air defenses.
There were no reports of any damage or injuries on the ground, and it remains unclear exactly where the drones were intercepted. Overnight, Russian authorities announced the closure of several sections of the highway leading to the Crimean Bridge, as well as the bridge itself.
The Crimean Peninsula, home to Russia’s key naval base, has been a frequent target of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks. Ukraine has also repeatedly used autonomous sea vehicles to attack Russian port infrastructure in Sevastopol. The autonomous sea vehicles have targeted key transport infrastructure, including the 19km-long Crimean Bridge, which was severely damaged in an attack last July but was later repaired and fully reopened in October 2023.
Earlier on the morning of March 2, agents of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) also stopped a vehicle loaded with explosives that was trying to enter Crimea from Russia's Kherson Region. A source told RIA Novosti that an improvised explosive device was discovered, and that the device was made from parts supplied to Ukraine by NATO countries.
