On May 30, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang met with a delegation of former political prisoners and former prisoners of war from Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City, on the occasion of the delegation's visit to Hanoi and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

In the intimate atmosphere of the reception, the delegates expressed their joy to visit the capital Hanoi and pay homage to President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum on the occasion of the whole country celebrating the 122nd anniversary of his birthday. The delegates reported to the President on the socio-economic development of Binh Tan district, Ho Chi Minh City, including the contributions of the delegates in the following areas: participating in hunger eradication and poverty reduction, donating to support the poor, and improving people's lives. The delegates were moved to recall the memories of the years of participating in the struggle for independence for the Fatherland; promised the President to continue to uphold the tradition of patriotism, indomitable will, preserve the qualities of a revolutionary soldier, continue to study and follow the moral example of Ho Chi Minh, and contribute more to the cause of building and protecting the homeland and the country.

President Truong Tan Sang warmly inquired about and wished good health to the delegates. On behalf of the Party and State, President Truong Tan Sang highly appreciated the patriotism and strong will of the delegates. The President shared the sufferings, losses and sacrifices of the delegates, affirming that the Party, State and people always remember the contributions of generations of revolutionary soldiers through the resistance wars. Responding to the opinions, thoughts and aspirations of the delegates, the President said that the entire Party and people are focusing on implementing the 4th Central Resolution on a number of urgent issues on Party building at present, aiming to create a new turning point in the Party building work, making our Party increasingly clean and strong. The President believes that the delegates, as the core members of local Party committees and organizations, will take the lead in disseminating the Party and State's policies and guidelines, continue to promote tradition, set good examples in building life, developing the local economy and society, and contributing to building and defending the Fatherland.
