President Truong Tan Sang receives Governor of Fukuoka Province (Japan)
On August 29, at the Presidential Palace, President Truong Tan Sang received Mr. Ogawa Hiroshi, Governor of Fukuoka Province, Japan, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

At the reception, welcoming the Governor and distinguished Japanese guests to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations, the President emphasized that Japan is Vietnam's leading partner. Recently, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe chose Vietnam as the first country to visit after taking office, demonstrating Japan's respect for Vietnam.
Welcoming Fukuoka Prefecture for successfully organizing activities to introduce images of Vietnam to the Japanese people, the President expressed his support for Japan's initiative to enhance exchanges between the two countries' young generations.
The President said that together with Hanoi, Fukuoka can expand cooperative relations with Vietnamese localities.
At the reception, the President also thanked the Fukuoka provincial government for helping the Vietnamese consulate operate effectively.
Governor Ogawa Hiroshi expressed his pleasure at witnessing Vietnam's remarkable development in recent years. The Governor pointed out that the delegation to Vietnam this time includes representatives from the provincial government, people's council, businesses and organizations to study the reality and promote multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.
Appreciating the traditional cooperative relationship between Fukuoka Prefecture and Hanoi, the Governor said that economic cooperation is important, but cultural exchange is also worth noting. In the near future, Fukuoka will send 1,000 high school students from the prefecture to Vietnam to exchange with Vietnamese youth, to strengthen the relationship between the young generations of the two countries.
Through the organization of the Fukuoka Days event in Vietnam, Fukuoka province wants to promote the image of Japan in general and Fukuoka in particular to the Vietnamese public.
Reviewing the outstanding events in the relationship between Vietnam and Fukuoka province such as opening the Consulate and establishing a direct flight to Fukuoka, he emphasized that the country and people of Vietnam have become close to the people of Fukuoka.
The Governor thanked Vietnam for its support for Fukuoka's investment and socio-cultural exchange activities, contributing to enhancing the relationship between the two countries.
