National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visits the Russian Federation
On the morning of September 8, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man led a delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to pay an official visit to the Russian Federation and co-chair the 3rd meeting of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee from September 8-10.
The visit took place at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly, Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin and Chairwoman of the Federation Council, Federal Assembly, Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko.
This is Mr. Tran Thanh Man's first foreign trip as Chairman of the National Assembly.
Accompanying National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man were: Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, Chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Friendship Parliamentarians' Group; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of the Vietnam Subcommittee of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic - Trade and Scientific - Technical Cooperation.
Also present were: Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha; Chairman of the National Assembly's Culture and Education Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh; Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh; Chairman of the National Assembly's Science, Technology and Environment Committee Le Quang Huy; Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee Le Tan Toi; Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi.

The delegation also included leaders of National Assembly agencies; leaders of a number of departments, ministries, branches and localities.
The visit took place right after the phone call between General Secretary and President To Lam and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin (August 8) and President Putin's visit to Vietnam (June); right at the time when the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the basic principles of Vietnam - Russia friendship, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950 - 2025).
The visit significantly contributes to promoting and strengthening the Vietnam - Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general, and the close and good cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the State Duma and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Parliament in particular.
Before the visit, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi said that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin will chair the 3rd meeting of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, the highest and first model of inter-parliamentary cooperation between our National Assembly and a foreign legislative body.
This is an important cooperation mechanism between the two countries along with the intergovernmental cooperation mechanism to strengthen the Vietnam - Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will contribute to enhancing comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in all fields of politics, trade, economy and people-to-people exchange.
On September 11, the 25th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee will be chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of the two countries, and will discuss comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economics, trade, science and education.
During the visit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man will meet with senior Russian leaders, receive representatives of political parties, localities, friendship associations and businesses of the two countries, and meet and work with staff of representative agencies and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Russia.
Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said that the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man was highly valued by both Vietnam and the Russian Federation, and was carefully arranged and prepared in terms of both program and content.
