Chinese President Xi Jinping tours Latin America

On the morning of July 13, Chinese President Xi Jinping boarded a special plane leaving Beijing to begin a tour of Latin America.

This is the Chinese leader's second visit to the region since he took office in March last year.

According to a VNA reporter in Beijing, during this 10-day visit, President Xi Jinping will visit Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba.

In Brazil, he will attend the BRICS summit, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and a meeting of China-Latin America and Caribbean leaders.

At the BRICS Summit, President Xi Jinping and leaders of the countries are expected to exchange views on promoting sustainable growth, promoting the establishment of the group's own development bank, and discuss current hot international and regional issues.

In addition, during his time in Brazil, President Xi Jinping also attended a dialogue between leaders of the BRICS group and the Union of South American Nations, and participated in other bilateral and multilateral activities...

On his way to Brazil, President Xi Jinping will stop in the Greek island of Rhodes and will hold talks with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras there.

Currently, trade between China and Latin American countries is constantly increasing. According to statistics from China Customs, the total two-way trade turnover between Beijing and Latin America reached 261.6 billion USD in 2013./.
