Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee works with Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of May 4, in Hanoi, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a meeting with the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group on the progress of investment and construction of the Quynh Lap 1 Thermal Power Plant Project.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of Departments, offices and the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone.

The Quynh Lap Power Center Project of Nghe An has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade for site planning, with an expected capacity of 2,400MW, invested in 2 phases with a total estimated investment of about 2.84 billion USD. In which, phase 1 is the Quynh Lap 1 - 2x600MW thermal power plant project, expected to operate in 2020. The investor in principle is the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group. On the side of Nghe An province, the necessary infrastructure for the project has been deployed such as: Planning 153.12ha for the thermal power plant project; 24.56ha of coal port land; 45.58ha of coal slag land and 53.63ha of auxiliary industrial land in Dong Hoi Industrial Park; completing the provincial road connecting Hoang Mai town with Dong Hoi Industrial Park, 12km long; 35kV construction power supply.

On October 21, 2014, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting with the investor and the project consulting unit, agreeing to implement the following contents: complete approval procedures in 2014; submit for approval the revised planning, set up boundary markers, implement compensation and site clearance in December 2014; arrange resettlement planning; establish a permanent unit in Nghe An to closely monitor work related to the project and finally, start the project before September 2, 2015. However, the above contents have not yet been directed and implemented promptly by the investor, affecting the project progress in particular, investment attraction and the lives of the people of the province in general.
After discussing with the investor's representative and reaching consensus with the comrades in the working group, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong affirmed that, in addition to objective reasons such as changes and adjustments in the planning of coal resources, ports and slag dumps, the investor needs to pay more attention and direct more strongly, and soon complete the above contents. The two sides also agreed after the meeting that the investor should make a plan for the project's construction progress, send it to the Provincial People's Committee for agreement on the starting date in 2015, and officially agree on the plan at the meeting held in early June 2015 in Nghe An. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also affirmed that it is necessary to strengthen dialogue and exchange between the investor and the province to have coordination, companionship, and create the best conditions for the project to be implemented and completed on time.
On the same day, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong also had a meeting with Corporation 36 under the Ministry of National Defense, discussing the construction progress of the Hoang Mai - Thai Hoa road project.
