Pawnshop owner had his throat slit during an argument over interest
Unable to agree on the interest on the bicycle he had previously pawned, Tran Van Tiep pulled out a knife and cut the pawnshop owner's jugular vein.
The incident occurred at the pawn shop of Mr. Hoang Mai Can (61 years old, residing in My Xa commune, Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province) at around 10:00 a.m. on July 14.
According to initial information, at the above time, Tran Van Tiep (38 years old, residing in Quang Trung commune, Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh) went to Mr. Can's pawn shop to redeem the bicycle he had pawned last month.
However, Tiep only paid the 150,000 VND he borrowed without paying interest. Mr. Can demanded an additional 100,000 VND in interest, and the two sides argued.

While arguing, Tiep pulled out a knife and held it to Mr. Can's neck, threatening him, causing the blade to cut into Mr. Can's jugular vein, causing blood to flow profusely.
Mr. Can's wife discovered the incident and immediately called for help. Tiep threw the knife and ran out into the street but was caught by the people. The pawnshop owner was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Mr. Hoang Ba Luc, Chief of My Xa Commune Police, confirmed the incident and said that he had handed Tiep over to Nam Dinh City Police for investigation and handling.
