The cause of the murder of two Yen Bai leaders has not been found yet.

Minister Mai Tien Dung said the Ministry of Public Security is investigating the cause of the incident in which two leaders of Yen Bai province were murdered by their subordinates with guns.

This afternoon (August 31), Minister - Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung chaired the regular Government press conference for August 2016.

Minister Mai Tien Dung said the Government considers the incident in Yen Bai to be extremely serious.

Responding to a question about the Government's view on the seriousness of the recent murder of two leaders of Yen Bai province, and requesting information on the initial cause of the incident, Minister and Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said that the Government assessed this as a very serious incident.

According to Minister Mai Tien Dung, immediately after the incident, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc went directly to work with the Standing Committee of Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, inspected and checked the situation. Along with that, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh also assigned the Government Office to announce the stabilization of the situation, then ensure security and order in the area, and assigned the Ministry of Public Security to find out the cause of the subordinate using a gun to shoot his superior.

The Government spokesman confirmed that the case has been prosecuted and is under investigation. When the results are available, the press will be informed. “This is a very serious case, so in a short time it is not possible to find out the cause of the case,” Minister Mai Tien Dung added.

As reported by Giao Thong Newspaper, on the morning of August 18, before the opening of the Yen Bai Provincial People's Council session, at around 7:00 a.m., the Head of the Forest Protection Department, Do Cuong Minh, went to the office of Mr. Pham Duy Cuong - Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee, used a K59 military gun equipped to shoot the Secretary and then moved to the office of Mr. Ngo Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of the People's Council and Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Committee, about 150 meters from Mr. Cuong's room to shoot him.

After shooting the two men, Minh committed suicide in Tuan’s room. All three were immediately taken to the hospital for emergency treatment, but by 1:05 p.m. on August 18, Pham Duy Cuong and Ngo Ngoc Tuan had died. Do Cuong Minh also died later, at 3:26 p.m. the same day.
