Yen Thai Pagoda celebrates Buddha's Birthday 2558
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of May 12, Yen Thai Pagoda (Son Hai Commune, Quynh Luu District, Nghe An) solemnly celebrated the United Nations Vesak Day, Buddhist year 2558 - DL - 2014.
Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Nghe An province; representatives of the Religious Affairs Committee - Department of Home Affairs, Nghe An Provincial Police, leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Department of Home Affairs of Quynh Luu district and local authorities, over 1,000 monks and nuns and a large number of Buddhists.

After three bell and drum beats to celebrate the Buddha's birthday, salute the national flag, the religious flag, and enter into the meditation on compassion, Venerable Thich Dinh Tue - Standing Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province read the Buddha's birthday message from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Venerable Thich Minh Hai - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha Education Board read the Buddha's birthday speech from the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Ho Ngoc Dung - Vice Chairman of Quynh Luu District People's Committee highly appreciated the Buddhist activities at Yen Thai Pagoda and Quynh Luu District in recent years, actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, campaigns "all people unite to build cultural life in residential areas" and the campaign "Day for the poor", "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh", social charity work and social security. He suggested that in the coming time, Buddhist monks and nuns should better implement the motto "National Dharma and Socialism", contributing to the victory of the goal "Rich people, strong country, fair, democratic and civilized society".

At the ceremony, representatives of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An province and Yen Thai pagoda presented 20 gifts to poor students who have overcome difficulties to study at Nguyen Duc Mau High School, each gift worth 500,000 VND, and presented 2 million VND to Son Hai Kindergarten to purchase school facilities and equipment; 2 million VND to the Association for the Support of the Disabled and the Disabled in Son Hai commune. The delegates also participated in the ceremony of releasing balloons and doves...
Previously, on May 11, local authorities, together with monks, nuns and Buddhists, offered incense and flowers at the martyrs' cemetery in Son Hai commune; and released 2,000 flower lanterns on Lach Thoi river.
