Prepare 6 emergency rescue planes
According to meteorological experts, a strong northeast monsoon will soon appear, interacting with storm No. 5, so this storm will likely be pushed further south. “It is still not predicted whether this storm will enter our country or not.
However, the combination of the storm and this monsoon will cause a terrible rainstorm. We will regularly monitor the direction of the storm, to broadcast information. At that speed, it is likely to reach the shore around September 30. Due to the influence of storm Nesat, it will cause a southwest monsoon, causing very heavy rain in the Mekong Delta region.
According to the National Committee for Search and Rescue, to respond to the storm, 6 aircraft (four helicopters, two fixed-wing aircraft), level III duty in Gia Lam, Hoa Lac, Da Nang, Phan Rang and Tan Son Nhat were mobilized. In addition, the navy prepared 9 ships, the coast guard 5 ships, the Search and Rescue Coordination Center has 6 SAR ships, ready to respond when requested.
Faced with the complicated storm situation, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Head of the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention Cao Duc Phat, requested the provinces to prepare response plans when the storm arrives to minimize damage. For the 35 fishing boats in the Hoang Sa area, they must be contacted and forced to return to ensure safety.
Mr. Phat also warned that floods in the Mekong Delta continue to rise rapidly, especially in the two provinces of An Giang and Dong Thap. An Giang alone has decided to declare a state of emergency for the entire province. The entire region has only harvested about 385,000/610,000 hectares of third-season rice.
To support the Mekong Delta provinces, the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control also submitted a document to the Prime Minister for emergency support of 170 billion VND to these provinces to protect residents, third-season rice areas and fruit trees that have not yet reached harvest time.
