Prepare well for the Provincial Conference of Good Farmers

(Baonghean.vn) - On November 6, the Provincial People's Committee worked with the Provincial Farmers' Association to listen to and give opinions on preparations for the Conference of Good Farmers of Nghe An Province.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference. Attending the conference were leaders of provincial departments, branches, and officials of the provincial Farmers' Association.

Overview of the meeting

The movement of farmers competing in production, good business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty is one of the three major movements launched by the Vietnam Farmers' Association since 1989. Up to now, it has developed into a widespread mass movement in the whole province, attracting a large number of cadres, members and farmers to participate, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in rural areas, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, increasing the number of well-off and rich farmers, creating more jobs and improving the lives of hundreds of thousands of farmers.

During the period 2012 - 2014, the number of farmers registering to achieve the title of good farmers in production and business at all levels accounted for nearly 60% of the total number of farmers in the province. By 2014, the whole province had more than 98,000 households achieving the title. Of which, 432 households achieved the title at the central level. The quality and effectiveness of the movement have been clearly improved. Many households have large-scale production, with business capital of billions of dong, creating jobs for dozens of workers. Many farmers are good examples of knowing how to promote the advantages and potentials of the locality, rising up to escape poverty and become rich in a sustainable way. The movement has also contributed to the comprehensive promotion of appropriate production relations in agriculture and rural areas, and the application of scientific and technical advances. It has contributed to the formation of specialized production areas and large-scale model fields to synchronously implement the stages of production, processing and consumption. The movement has also motivated hundreds of thousands of farming households to actively transform the agricultural production structure, contributing to the economic restructuring towards industrialization and agriculture; contributing to the movement of building new rural areas, solidarity, mutual love, mutual assistance, helping each other to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty; contributing to maintaining political stability, social order and safety in rural areas, contributing to protecting national security, etc.

Representatives of the Provincial Farmers' Association received comments and contributions from agencies and departments.

During the period 2012 - 2014, the association at all levels elected 121 most outstanding individuals, representing 3,407 households that achieved the title of excellent farmers in production and business at the provincial level, to attend the congress.

At the Conference, representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors gave their opinions on the organization of congresses, emulation and rewards, etc.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that this is a large movement with important economic, cultural and social significance. The conference of representatives of good farmers and businessmen contributes to building typical examples, expanding typical examples, and re-evaluating the advantages and limitations of the movement in a general way. From there, the movement will increasingly spread both in breadth and depth. At the same time, the movement will make an important contribution to the cause of economic and social development of the locality, especially in the new rural area. The recognition of typical examples is extremely necessary, contributing to promoting the movement to develop more and more strongly and widely.
