Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange

On the evening of August 26, the 10th Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange Program, 2012 officially concluded with a special street art exchange program that left many good impressions in the hearts of local people and domestic and foreign tourists.

Hundreds of Japanese and Hoi An actors and artists, together with local people and tourists, performed plays and dances such as “The Legend of Cu”, “Returning to the Old Town”, and the scene “Hoi An Costumes – Memories of Time”…, bringing the audience and tourists back to the image of the Japanese Covered Bridge built on the land of Cu’s back to commemorate the grace of God and Buddha, praising the solidarity of the ethnic communities. Artists, actors, along with a large number of local people and tourists, immersed themselves in a musical space imbued with traditional cultural identity, imbued with the solidarity and friendship of the two ethnic groups through dances, folk songs such as Bon dance, Trong Com dance, and Sap dance.

Through this exchange, the Japanese side once again affirmed the close traditional friendship between the two countries and peoples through the images of the event as well as promoting cooperation in tourism development, especially with the destination of Hoi An. Mr. Yoshioka Norihiko, Deputy Director of the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam said: “The festival has been held annually for 10 years. I am very happy. Through this festival, we bring cultural features to Hoi An and Vietnamese people understand more about Japanese culture. This is a great opportunity to attract tourists to the ancient town of Hoi An to explore the interesting features of the ancient town”.

The street art program officially concluded the series of activities of the 10th Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange in 2012. It opened up new prospects in the friendly and cooperative relationship between the Vietnamese and Japanese people./.
