Story of war veterans in block 15, Cua Nam ward, donating land to open a road
(Baonghean)Dang Quan Thuy Street is a connecting road from the center of block 15, Cua Nam ward connecting with Sieu Hai street to Nguyen Sinh Sac street (Vinh city). The road has just been upgraded to 7m wide, with a 5m asphalt roadbed. To construct this road, the City People's Committee has a policy of not supporting the cost of site clearance, assigning authorities at all levels to clear the site to carry out construction on schedule.
In block 15 of Cua Nam ward, there are 11 households with 150m of fence and residential land that need to be cleared. In this situation, the block executive committee held a meeting to clearly state the request to mobilize people to voluntarily contribute, at the same time the government and organizations went to each household to mobilize voluntary contributions without receiving compensation. Among the 11 households, many have small residential land areas, now they have to move into 1-2m of fence, making their living space even more difficult. Typically, the head of the Veterans Association, Ngo Hong Phuc, had to move the fence into 28m2 and the residential land into 25m2, totaling 53m2.
Mr. Phuc's house was moved to open Sieu Hai street.
Mr. Phuc himself is retired, with a meager salary, his wife is a petty trader, the income is not worth much, life is very frugal. However, he still voluntarily donated 53 square meters of residential land, had to remove the fence and part of the house to open Sieu Hai road running through the house according to the prescribed boundary, without setting any conditions to receive compensation. Veteran Nguyen Van Quang is the second household to voluntarily donate 20 square meters of land to open a road according to the boundary.
At the meeting of 11 households in block 15, people welcomed the gesture of the head of the association, Ngo Hong Phuc. The remaining 10 households also agreed to donate 300 square meters of land and a 150-meter-long fence to open the road. Mr. Ho Van Do - Head of block 15 said: "Thanks to the participation of organizations, along with the consensus of the people, we have created strength. The War Veterans Association came to help head of the association, Phuc, dismantle the house. The households in the block contributed more than 50 million VND, some less, some more. The sectors, organizations, and philanthropists supported Mr. Phuc with 20 million VND so that his family could buy materials to rebuild the 60-square-meter level 4 house and stabilize their lives.
