According to RIA Novosti on August 16, Lev Sokolshchik, a researcher at the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies, said in an interview that the main result of the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump can be called the beginning of the restoration of bilateral relations and President Donald Trump's return visit to Moscow.
“The most important thing according to the results is the beginning of the restoration of bilateral relations, a possible visit of the US leader to Moscow, which will strengthen positive dynamics,” said expert Sokolshchik.
He stressed that the Ukrainian crisis would require further targeted efforts to resolve it, but the desire to resolve it was clearly expressed.
Earlier, talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Donald Trump were held in Alaska and lasted nearly 3 hours. Afterwards, the leaders of the countries held a joint press conference.
After the talks, President Putin said that the situation around Ukraine had become one of the key issues of discussion in Alaska, and also noted that he and Trump had established a good and trusting business relationship.
