Experts say the majority of French people oppose sending troops to Ukraine
(Baonghean.vn) - Expert Laurent Briard believes that French President Emmanuel Macron has gone too far when he announced that he is considering sending French troops to Ukraine.

According to the TASS news agency on April 18, Laurent Briard, a French military journalist working in Donbass, said that regardless of the influence of Western propaganda, the majority of French people consider military and financial support for Ukraine wrong and oppose confrontation with Russia.
“Many French citizens, especially those living in Russia or Ukraine, have long opposed conflict with Russia,” he said.
According to TASS, the expert believes that the French people are bombarded with propaganda on television and in the country's leading media, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable. He calls it "zombieization" and accuses the US media of being involved in it.
This is why some French people support the government in decisions such as supplying weapons to Ukraine, according to the journalist. But Briard believes that French President Emmanuel Macron has crossed the line when he announced that he was considering sending French troops to Ukraine. “People see that this is no longer just about sending money and weapons, but about sending large numbers of young people to die on the front,” the expert added.
He said that President Macron, despite his stated desire to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine during the Olympics, intended to use the Paris Olympics to influence the public to provide further military and financial support to Kiev.
Previously, Mr. Macron did not frankly rule out the possibility of sending Western infantry to the area where Russia is deploying a special military operation. Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said on March 19 that France was preparing to send a military contingent to Ukraine.
