Transferring the process of monitoring chemical residues on agricultural products to farmers in Quynh Luu
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of June 26, at Cau Giat Town, Quynh Luu District, the Agricultural Competitiveness Project Management Board coordinated with Nghe An Plant Protection Department to open a training course on transferring the process of monitoring chemical residues on agricultural products to farmers.
40 farmers from two key vegetable growing communes of Quynh Luu, Quynh Minh and Quynh Luong, were invited to participate. During the course of 1 day, the students were presented and instructed by lecturers and technicians on rapid analysis methods to check pesticide residues in vegetables and fruits. In addition to being provided with the basic concepts and components of pesticides as well as what pesticide residues are, for the first time, farmers were directly able to use tools to analyze Test Kits and reagents.
Farmers are guided by experts and lecturers
Using a visual approach, along with 7 sample preparation steps, farmers directly witnessed experts conducting 7 residue testing steps and evaluating the results based on comparison. The training course not only helps farmers use pesticides safely but also helps farmers recognize the level of pesticide residue on agricultural products to decide whether to wait longer to ensure safety or harvest to bring to market.
It is known that previously, within the framework of the Agricultural Competitiveness Project, the Plant Protection Department had organized a number of training courses for vegetable farmers in the coastal area of Quynh Luu. It is expected that after this training course, in 2013, the Project Management Board will open a number of more courses for people in some communes in the district and Nghe An province./.
