The story of economic development and land donation for road construction in Hung Thinh Parish.
Located in Hung Nguyen commune (formerly Hung Nguyen district), Nghe An province, Hung Thinh Parish has recently undergone many changes and improvements in all aspects of life. This is the result of a spirit of unity and dynamism in developing production, gradually increasing income, and contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland.
Economic progress
Hung Thinh Parish, located in Hung Thinh hamlet (formerly Hung Tay commune), was established in 2021 through a split from Ke Gai Parish. Currently, Hung Thinh Parish has 440 households with over 1,700 inhabitants. The main source of income for the parishioners is agricultural production, primarily rice farming, and small-scale trading and service businesses.

According to Mr. Tran Van Tri, Chairman of the Pastoral Council of Hung Thinh Parish, in the past, the lives of parishioners faced many difficulties due to monoculture rice farming and a lack of attention to applying science and technology to production, resulting in low efficiency.
In recent years, farmers have boldly changed their crop structure, invested in suitable plant and animal varieties, and boldly applied scientific and technological advancements to production, resulting in increasingly higher yields and output.
As a result, households not only have sufficient resourcesfoodThis ensures daily needs are met, and there is also the opportunity to sell goods to increase income, contributing to the construction of spacious, comfortable, and modern homes.

In particular, in Hung Thinh hamlet, many households have stayed rooted in their land and fields to become wealthy, setting an example of successful production and business. Mr. Tran Van Tri led us on a tour of the farm model of Mr. Nguyen Sy Thang, whom the villagers call the "farmer billionaire."
Many years ago, Mr. Thang leased 1.5 hectares of barren land to build a farm. His family's farm is built on a closed-loop model with thousands of ducks and chickens and dozens of pigs, mainly ducks for meat and eggs.

Duck eggs are hatched at the farm and supplied to restaurants in the surrounding wards and communes, as well as around the VSIP Industrial Park. Annually, Mr. Thang's farm generates a total income of approximately 3 billion VND, an amount that most farmers only dream of.
Along with Mr. Thang's family, Mr. Nguyen Van An's family is also considered a millionaire, primarily engaged in the rice trading business. Each harvest season, Mr. An purchases hundreds of tons of rice, mills it, and then supplies it to rice dealers. This rice trading business provides him with hundreds of millions of dong in annual income, allowing his family to build a spacious and comfortable home.

Besides developing farms and trading rice, many households in Hung Thinh hamlet also earn income from carpentry, making vermicelli, and providing services (grocery stores, transportation services, electronics repair, etc.). Notably, many households have facilitated opportunities for their children to work abroad, bringing in high incomes.
According to statistics from the village management board, there are currently about 450 laborers from the village working abroad (some families have 2-3 members), and many more are in the process of applying for overseas employment.labor exportMost families whose children go abroad for work experience significant changes in income and living standards, especially having the means to build spacious and comfortable homes.
In addition to caring for the spiritual and religious lives of the parishioners, the Pastoral Council also collaborates with the village management board to encourage parishioners to actively develop production and business, promoting economic development and poverty reduction. As a result, living standards have improved, and currently, the village has only one poor household.
Mr. Tran Van Tri - Chairman of the Pastoral Council of Hung Thinh Parish
The villages are flourishing.
Besides developing the economy and increasing income, the parishioners of Hung Thinh parish have responded to the new rural development movement, contributing to changing the face of their villages. A notable example is the movement to donate land for the construction of rural roads, serving the needs of production and transportation.

Visiting Hung Thinh Parish today, we will be able to travel along spacious, clean roads, lined on both sides with neatly arranged high-rise buildings, resembling a newly planned neighborhood. To achieve these wide and smooth roads, many households voluntarily donated land, trees, and moved their fences inward, readily sacrificing personal interests for the benefit of the community.
Implementing the policy of constructionnew rural areasTo improve the situation, the Party Committee and the government of Hung Tay commune (formerly) carried out the expansion and upgrading of the inter-village road passing through Hung Thinh hamlet.
The road, originally only 4 meters wide, has now been widened to 9 meters. To meet the standards, the only way was for families on both sides of the road to donate their residential and garden land. The People's Committee of the commune coordinated with the Pastoral Council of Hung Thinh Parish to mobilize parishioners to donate land for the road construction.
After being persuaded about the common good, the villagers readily donated land, trees, and relocated sturdy fences to widen the road. As a result, the people of Hung Thinh hamlet donated a total of nearly 2,000 square meters.2Land has contributed to changing the face of rural areas and beautifying villages.

Among them, the following households stand out: Mr. Nguyen Trong Doan (150m²).2), Truong Cong Hien (120m)2), Nguyen Van Nien, Nguyen Trong Ly (100m)2), Nguyen Van Luong (80m)2There are families who are willing to dismantle their gates and fences, worth hundreds of millions of dong, to allow the village or commune to construct rural roads.
In the field of health and environment, Parish Priest Ho Huu Lien always pays attention to and reminds parishioners to protect their health, prevent diseases, collect and dispose of waste, and maintain hygiene in residential areas. The movement of mutual support and assistance within the community is strongly promoted.
Over the past four years, the Parish Priest and the Pastoral Council of Hung Thinh Parish have mobilized parishioners to donate 750 million VND, supporting the construction of three charitable houses for impoverished families.
At the National Emulation Congress honoring good people and good deeds among Catholic compatriots in Nghe An province for the period 2020-2025, Hung Thinh Parish was honored to receive a Certificate of Commendation from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for its outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement and for living a good and virtuous life.
