(Baonghean)- Under Dai Tue mountain range, in hamlet 9, Nam Anh commune (MaleDan) has a small and simple house but it is very warm and happy. The owner of that house is a man with crippled legs and a woman with severe heart failure.

Two tragic lives

When he was a 5th grader, Le Van Nha (born in 1977) fell from a guava tree to the ground and was seriously injured. His family was poor and could not afford treatment, so his legs were atrophied and completely paralyzed. However, Nha was determined not to give up his studies. Loving his son, regardless of heavy rain or scorching sun, his parents took turns carrying him to school every day with the hope that education would help their disabled child's life to be less miserable. However, Nha's studies had to stop at 9th grade, without the conditions to continue to high school. Because his family was already poor and the school was far away, his parents no longer had enough strength to carry him to class every day.

By the age of 25 (2002), Nha had to move too hard, his uncle bought him a wheelchair, helping him move further, save more energy and gain more confidence in life. At this time, the family's situation was also less difficult, so Nha's parents decided to send him to Vinh City to learn the trade of repairing household electricity.

After finishing the course, Nha returned to open a shop to repair household electrical appliances. Although his legs are disabled, Nha has very skillful hands. All kinds of broken televisions, electric fans, rice cookers... are restored to normal working order through his hands. With that skillfulness, Nha has built up his reputation and "brand" among the people in the area.

His simple happinessLe Van Nha and Ms. Ngo Thi Mai

The fate of Ms. Ngo Thi Mai (born in 1976) was not any luckier. When her mother gave birth to her, she was already small and weak. After finishing 9th grade, her parents were forced to let their daughter drop out of school because the journey was long and she was too weak to bear it. One day, suddenly seeing her limbs swollen, she was taken to the hospital, the doctors said she had rheumatic heart disease and then severe heart failure. The doctors advised that, to ensure her safety, she should not get married and have children. Not wanting to become a burden to her family, Ms. Mai decided to open a small shop to sell groceries.

And a home

In that situation, Mr. Nha and Ms. Mai actively participated in the activities of the Youth Union with the aim of reducing some of the boredom and sadness. By enthusiastically participating in the activities and expanding their relationships, the two met each other. The ancients often say "people with the same suffering often sympathize and share", from the first meeting, Mr. Nha and Ms. Mai became close and often exchanged feelings. Their feelings were nurtured by friends and became increasingly close and they decided to build a family together.

Faced with their children's decision, both parents expressed concern and even opposition. It was not difficult to understand, because their children were weak and disabled, marrying someone in the same situation would make it more difficult, arduous, and difficult to ensure a future life. The couple persistently persuaded their families and proved that their love was truly sincere and that they would live happily together. Faced with their children's determination, both families finally agreed. In early Spring 2007, Nha and Mai's wedding was held. The wedding hall was packed with people coming to celebrate their happiness.

It has been more than 5 years now, but many people in Nam Anh commune still remember clearly the image of the bride stepping out of the wedding car, next to the groom in a wheelchair entering the wedding hall amidst the applause and cheers of everyone. And the love of these two unfortunate people blossomed and bore fruit when nearly a year later a baby boy was born. Both families were overwhelmed with joy... The boy was named Le Van Luc by his parents with the hope that their son would overcome his parents' health problems.

Every day, Mr. Nha is busy with broken electrical appliances. Ms. Mai is busy with chickens, ducks and vegetable beds. The family helps them grow 2 more acres of rice. Thanks to their diligence, the couple's life is not too bad. Every month, Mr. Nha also receives support money for people with disabilities. Knowing that his wife is weak, he tries to help with many things, from cooking, watering vegetables to taking care of chickens and ducks. This spring, they received another joy when the project to support livelihoods for people with disabilities supported them with some money to repair and upgrade their small house. At the same time, they also participated in the program "Overcoming Yourself" and won 31 million VND.

Mr. Nha confided: "Currently, life is still facing many difficulties and shortages. Nowadays, electrical appliances are of very good quality and rarely break down, so work and income are decreasing day by day. In the near future, we do not know what other job is more suitable to ensure family expenses." Like all parents, when asked about their greatest wish, Mr. Nha and Ms. Mai both answered: "Our greatest wish is that our children are always healthy and study well so that their future life will be less difficult!"
