CIA believes Ukraine will soon face harsh realities
(Baonghean.vn) - The CIA believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will no longer be able to penetrate Russia's defenses.
Ria Novosti quoted an analysis by journalist Daniel Depetris in Defense News saying that the US intelligence community doubts the ability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to penetrate Russia's defenses on all fronts.
“Mr. Zelensky's aspirations are facing harsh reality,” wrote American journalist Daniel Depetris.
According to Mr. Depetris, the Ukrainian counteroffensive is unlikely to succeed. The Ukrainian Armed Forces must find a way to penetrate three levels of Russian fortifications. In addition, it is equally important to hold these positions without losing strength, as well as without reducing the ability to defend against Russian counterattacks.
US observers believe that Kiev's failures on the battlefield will push President Joe Biden to abandon the supply of heavy weapons to its ally. In this case, Mr. Depetris believes that President Zelensky's government must accept the territorial status quo.
Former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Ukraine's 47th Mechanized Brigade had practically disappeared, following Russian attacks with Solntsepek heavy flamethrower systems (TOS).
Former intelligence officer Ritter is convinced that Ukraine will no longer be able to fight at high intensity, due to the huge number of soldiers killed.
On August 29, Russian President Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, said that the West and Ukraine are at odds over the conflict.
