The amount that Thanh Hoa football team must pay to coach Fabio Lopez and assistant Salvatore Orofino is 200,000 USD within 45 days.

Coach Fabio claims to have won the lawsuitThanh Hoa ClubFebruary 3. On February 5, the law firm representing SILA officially announced the lawsuit between Mr. Fabio Lopez and Mr. Salvatore Orofino with the V.League football team Thanh Hoa.

SILA said that Thanh Hoa FC's counterclaim was rejected by FIFA's Players' Status Committee. "Fabio and Salvatore gained the upper hand in the contract dispute with Thanh Hoa FC (Vietnam)," the European law firm confirmed.

FIFA's decision was sent to the plaintiffs (Fabio and Salvatore) and the defendant (Thanh Hoa Club) on February 2, 2021. Within 45 days from the date of the decision, Thanh Hoa Club must pay the amount according to the contract.

According to FIFA rules, the decision must be kept secret and neither party can make it public. Mr. Nguyen Van De, former Chairman of Thanh Hoa Club when Coach Fabio signed the contract, confirmed that he has not received FIFA's decision.

According to Zing's research, as well as the request that Mr. Fabio made before suing, this amount is nearly 200,000 USD. The salary the Italian coach receives at the team is about 11,000 USD/month, the contract lasts 2 years.

The 1973-born coach signed a contract in November 2019 and it expired in November 2021. However, he was fired in July 2020, after working for 7 months. Thanh Hoa Club still owes 17 months of salary to Mr. Fabio alone.

The head coach’s compensation alone is about $95,000. Meanwhile, assistant Salvatore receives a lower salary than Mr. Fabio but has the same contract term. That does not include 5% monthly interest from the date the two parties terminate the contract.

"After months of enduring insults about my professionalism as well as slander, this moment has come. FIFA has given me back what they took away," Mr. Fabio shared with Vietnamese media.

Talking about FIFA's decision, he said: "I will not negotiate with Thanh Hoa Club. I warned them before bringing this matter to FIFA. They refused to negotiate and this is the consequence they must bear."

He also "draws the line" for Thanh Hoa Club to be able to sue at a higher level, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, if the Vietnamese club loses, CAS will impose a heavier fine than the initial amount that FIFA decided.

Thanh Hoa Club has changed owners in the 2021 season. Mr. De (Nguyen Van De) is no longer the chairman and manager of the team. Mr. Cao Tien Doan is the chairman of the club and is legally responsible for Thanh Hoa team.
