120 prisoners escaped from prison in Libya's capital Tripoli
Libyan National Guard commander Khaled al-Sharif said on October 15 that about 120 prisoners escaped from a prison in the capital Tripoli.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Sharif admitted: "About 120 common criminals escaped from Al-Jadaida prison today (October 15). Security forces have been put on high alert to recapture these prisoners. We are trying to track them down and some prisoners have been recaptured."
The prison break occurred less than a week before the one-year anniversary of the assassination of late leader Gaddafi in his hometown of Sirte on October 20./.
