There were 2,114 students who won prizes in the 2013 national excellent student selection exam.

The Ministry of Education and Training has announced the list of 2,114 winners of the 2013 national exam for excellent students in grade 12. Localities with high achievements in the exams for excellent students in previous years such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Nam Dinh... continue to lead the country in the number of students winning awards.

Mr. Tran Van Kien, Deputy Director of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment, said that the Examination Board of the 2013 National Excellent Student Examination for Grade 12 High School has completed the examination and scoring. Based on the results of the examination, the list of prize-winning candidates has been submitted for approval to the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training.

In the list of 2,114 prize-winning candidates, Hanoi is the locality with the largest number of prize-winning candidates out of 63 provinces and cities with 129 prize-winning candidates, including 9 first prizes, 35 second prizes, 47 third prizes and 21 consolation prizes.

Next is Hai Phong with 80 prize-winning contestants, including 4 first prizes, 25 second prizes, 29 third prizes, and 22 consolation prizes. Nam Dinh ranked third with 77 prize-winning contestants, including 4 first prizes, 27 second prizes, 25 third prizes, and 21 consolation prizes.

Nghe An ranked fourth with 73 prize-winning contestants, including 4 first prizes, 21 second prizes, 32 third prizes, and 16 consolation prizes. Thanh Hoa delegation had 64 prize-winning contestants and also had impressive achievements with 4 first prizes in 4 subjects: Math, Biology, Informatics and Physics.

The remaining localities with students winning first prizes in the contest include: Hai Duong (3 first prizes), Ho Chi Minh City (2 first prizes), Ha Nam (2 first prizes), Hung Yen (2 first prizes), Phu Tho (2 first prizes), Ninh Binh (2 first prizes), Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Binh Phuoc, Quang Binh.

Regarding the schools, Hanoi National University leads with 66 prize-winning students, including 3 first prizes, Ho Chi Minh City National University ranks second with 58 prize-winning students, including 2 first prizes. Hanoi National University of Education ranks third with 55 prize-winning students, including 2 first prizes.

In the national exam for excellent students in grade 12, students who win third prize or higher will be directly admitted to universities and colleges according to the groups of majors prescribed by the Minister of Education and Training for each exam subject. Students who win the Encouragement Prize will be directly admitted to colleges according to the groups of majors prescribed by the Minister of Education and Training for each exam subject.
