10-year-old girl awarded 'Young Folk Artist' title

(Baonghean.vn)- That is little girl Bui Thi Tu Anh, a 5B student at Nam Thanh Primary School (Nam Dan).

Tu Anh’s house is hidden behind the small hamlet 3B of Nam Thanh commune. When we arrived, she was busy helping her mother with housework. She has a small figure, a gentle voice but her bright, intelligent eyes “attract” people.

Tu Anh said she started singing folk songs when she was 3 or 4 years old, following the ladies and aunts in the neighborhood to perform. But it wasn't until second grade when the school introduced folk singing into the curriculum that Tu Anh was able to practice properly.

“I find folk songs very good, easy to learn, easy to remember. I only need to listen to a new song a few times to memorize it, but the hardest part is the way to sing and emphasize, but the teacher in class taught me so I understand better.” – Tu Anh shared. What is special is that not only does she sing well, for 5 consecutive years, Tu Anh has also achieved the title of excellent student, Uncle Ho's Good Child at all levels.

Mr. Bui Huu Tam - Bui Thi Tu Anh's father said, Tu Anh is the youngest child in the family. Although there is no artistic tradition, from a young age, she showed a talent for performing folk songs.

Since grade 2, she has been continuously trained by the cultural sector of the commune and district and sent to perform at many folk song competitions and festivals at all levels. At the Sen Village Singing Festival in 2014 and 2016 at the cluster level of 6 communes, Tu Anh was voted and honored by the judges as “Young Folk Artist”.

“For my family, the title is mainly meant to encourage and boost the spirit because Tu Anh is still young, her singing technique has not improved much, and she needs to learn more. But the recognition also helps her to be more joyful to continue practicing and performing to contribute to the local cultural and artistic movement,” the father of the “child folk artist” confided.
