The groom did not attend the wedding, so the bride's family had to ask the groom's family to act as a substitute, but the plan failed because the groom demanded too much money.

Appearing on the wedding stage on July 22, bride Jutathip Nimnual, from Ratchaburi province, central Thailand, thanked relatives and friends who attended the wedding ceremony, and said she never expected her big day to turn out so tragically after the groom failed to show up.

According toAsia One, the 28-year-old bride is scheduled to marry the groom Phakin Junjerm, 20, on July 22, although they have only been in love for a short time. The two have agreed to get married and have already taken wedding photos. The bride's family, Jutathip, has asked the groom's family to prepare 200,000 Thai baht (nearly 6,000 USD) in cash and jewelry worth the same amount as a dowry.

A week before the wedding, Jutathip learned that Phakin had a secret lover, but the young man still insisted on marrying her as planned. On July 20, Phakin sent a text message to his fiancée, saying that he might have to cancel the wedding because he could not afford the dowry.

The next day, the bride’s relatives offered to support Phakin with 140,000 baht so that he could have enough money for the wedding price as requested. Throughout the day of July 21, no one could contact the groom until around 11pm, when the groom’s relatives called the bride’s family to inform them that they had found him and the wedding would still go ahead as planned.

But on the wedding day, Phakin ran away. At this time, the Jutathip family had to beg Phakin's young cousin to dress up in a suit and pretend to be the groom to save face for the bride. But he demanded 1 million baht (30,000 USD), so the stunt plan was canceled.

Kanyalak Puangmala, the bride's cousin, said the two families sent out 1,000 invitations and booked a total of 170 tables for the wedding.

The 5-minute video clip of the bride Jutathip standing alone on stage to apologize and announce that she had been abandoned by her groom has attracted more than 3.7 million views, been shared more than 30,000 times and received tens of thousands of comments. Most people comforted and sympathized with the unfortunate bride.

Currently, Jutathip has filed a complaint against Phakin with the police.

Meanwhile, Phakin’s cousin admitted on Facebook that he deliberately asked for 1 million baht because he found the bride’s family’s proposal to pretend to be the groom ridiculous. He also said that Phakin did not love Jutathip but was forced to marry her.
