Previously, an 18-year-old female patient had a traffic accident in Dong Nai and was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital by her family on May 19 with a contusion of the frontal brain, bilateral hemorrhage, and subarachnoid hemorrhage. After several days of hospitalization, due to the severity of her condition, the patient fell into a coma and was expected to die.
After the patient's family agreed to donate organs, the hospital's organ transplant committee also met and selected a suitable patient.
On May 29, the Cho Ray Hospital's organ transplant teams simultaneously received a heart, two kidneys, and a liver and transplanted them to four patients in five operating rooms. The heart transplant was completed at 10 p.m.; the two kidney transplants were completed at 9:23 p.m.; and the liver transplant was completed at 5 a.m. the next morning.
Currently, the health of the 4 patients who received organ transplants is stable.
