26 years old, Doan Thi Thanh Vinh has just graduated with honors from her master's program.biotechnologyat Ho Chi Minh City International University with a score of 8.73. In particular, the graduation thesis on Research on the ability to carry anti-cancer drugs of some Lactobacillus strains (supervised by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Khue Tu, lecturer of biotechnology at the International University) was also evaluated as excellent with 92.2/100 points. And in 2012 and 2013, Thanh Vinh and a number of other authors had 5 articles published in international scientific journals related to research from this topic.

Regarding his research, Thanh Vinh shared: “This research aims to create nanoparticles that can create a source of drug delivery and packaging with anti-cancer drugs. In particular, these particles are biological in origin, non-toxic, so they do not affect other normal cells in the patient's body to reduce side effects during cancer treatment”. However, Thanh Vinh added that this research is currently only in the synthesis stage to prepare for the testing stage. To move towards product production still requires a long process with many challenges.

“It’s not easy” is Vinh’s answer when asked about writing articles for publication in international scientific journals. To illustrate this statement, Thanh Vinh gave a series of waiting times: “A complete article submitted to a journal takes a whole year to be available online, then it can take another 6 to 12 months to be published in a paper journal. That’s not to mention the many times the article is edited according to the requirements of the censorship board.”

This young author shared more of his own experiences: “To have an international scientific article, the first key is specialized English. However, the decisive factor in whether the article is published is the previous research results”. Regarding the secret to specialized English, Thanh Vinh confided: “I have accumulated this English knowledge thanks to the process of studying entirely in English at school. Besides, thanks to regularly reading international scientific journals, I have learned more vocabulary and ways of expressing myself in a scientific article”. However, for Vinh, above all is the passion for research. When doing this topic, Vinh and his colleagues had many sleepless nights in the school laboratory. “There were many times when I intended to give up when the research results were not as expected. But thanks to the strong passion for research passed on by my supervisor, I have been able to get to where I am today”.

After a long time of research and writing, the most important thing for Vinh is knowing how to communicate his research results to the outside world. Then from a lazy student by his own admission, Vinh became diligent and disciplined, knowing how to manage time thanks to the process of engaging in research, a very coincidental direction that only started with Vinh's admiration for his teachers. Vinh has now completed his master's program but has not decided to go to work right away because he wants to spend more time to complete his research. But no matter which direction he takes, Vinh still wants to continue doing research-related work with all his burning passion.
