Disabled girl 20 years as postman
(Baonghean) - Every day, whether it is hot or rainy, the people's cadres of Linh Son commune (Anh Son) still see Ms. Ha Thi Than riding her bicycle to every village and alley to deliver letters and newspapers to readers.
Ha Thi Than was born in 1968 in Da Tho village, Linh Son commune, and has had a left leg disability since childhood. Her father, Mr. Ha Van Phung, was a 2/4 disabled veteran who was discharged from the army and became a commune postman. When he was old and weak, he retired and asked for his daughter to take his place. Accepted by the locality and the district post office, when she was in 12th grade, Than learned to ride a bicycle and after graduating from high school, the young postwoman rode her bicycle every day on the road.
Linh Son commune has a large land area and a large population, with 14 villages, 4 schools, and a length of nearly 10 km. The roads are difficult to travel, winding and steep. Than said: Every 9-10 am, I go to Linh Son Post Office to receive letters and newspapers and arrange them at home by unit. In the early afternoon, I deliver them, prioritizing the Party Committee, government, and schools, then each village and individual. Thanks to Than's efforts, for the past 10 years, Linh Son has been the commune with the largest number of newspapers in the district with nearly 20 newspapers. Every morning, Than wakes up early, cleans the house, prepares meals for his elderly mother (who has been ill and unable to walk for many years) and his children to go to school. Than's "precious son" is 8 years old and is in 2nd grade.
Asked about the regime, Than said: Previously, he received an allowance of 700,000 VND/month, from January 2012 it increased to nearly 1,100,000 VND/month, in addition to commission.
Head of Anh Son Post Office - Nguyen Huu Dong said: Postal worker Ha Thi Than, despite her and her family's difficulties, always completed her tasks excellently and was awarded a certificate of merit by the provincial Post Office for 7 consecutive years.
