PNO - Although Mary Gannon was born without arms, with her willpower and determination she became a teacher and inspired many people about the will to live.

Mary grew up inMexicoAt the age of seven, she was adopted by an American family in the state ofOhio, adopted. Last year, Mary became a substitute math teacher at Harding High School (Lakewood, stateOhio). In addition to teaching at school, she also tutors grades 6, 7, and 8. Mary often drives her car with the special license plate “Happy Feet” to school.

Many people were amazed to see Mary skillfully using her toes to write math problems on the board, or typing fluently in class.


The young teacher hopes that through math and hours on the podium, she can teach her students the best values ​​in life. Mary confided: “I have the job I have dreamed of since I was a child. “She has helped me understand life better, and I am much better at math because of her,” said Jaden Johnson, a sixth-grader. “Everyone tells stories about Mary’s resilience and her motto: If she can do it, so can you,” said Joe Tackacs, assistant principal at Harding Middle School.
