The teacher guided Tra My to do her homework. |
Tra My is the eldest child in a poor farming family in Khe Ran village. Since childhood, she has "absorbed" the hardships when in the summer she went with her mother to the fields to harvest corn and cassava, in the cold winter she had to wade through mud to plant rice in deep fields; then go to the forest to collect bamboo shoots, firewood... She always wanted to study well to help her parents in the future. Her mother said that when she was in primary school, she was very studious. Many days when she studied at home and encountered difficult exercises, Tra My asked her mother to take her to the teacher's house in another village to help her solve them. During the rainy season, her small village was often flooded, the road to school was flooded, slippery, and muddy, but Tra My still did not miss a single class.
Seeing that she was eager to study again and had good academic results, her parents always saved every grain of rice and corn to buy school supplies for her. Not letting her parents down, during her primary school years, Tra My was always an excellent student. She was also selected to participate in district competitions; won third prize at the district level in Vietnamese for grade 4, and third prize at the district level in Math Olympiad for grade 5. Not only was she a good student, she was also an active and enthusiastic team leader. In grade 4, she represented the district in competitions and won the title of Talent Star Leader at the provincial level. In grade 5, she won first prize in the cluster-level Traffic Safety Competition. She shared: "I always try my best with the desire to win high prizes so that my friends will know more about mountainous students and Thai students."
With her remarkable achievements, entering secondary school, Tra My was elected class monitor. As a class officer, she cared a lot about her friends with difficult circumstances. In the class, there was a friend who had autism, often yelled, was mischievous and refused to play with anyone. Tra My was always close to her, talked to her, she often went to her house to call her to go to school every day and reminded her to copy her notes, do her homework...
Assigned by the homeroom teacher to support students with poor academic performance, at the end of each class period, Tra My stays behind to check each student. If anyone does not copy the lesson, or cannot copy it in time, Tra My is willing to stay behind to guide them with their homework... Thanks to that, the overall learning results of the class have improved significantly. Teacher Nguyen Thi Phuong, homeroom teacher of class 6C, Con Cuong Town Secondary School shared: Tra My is always the "right-hand man" of the homeroom teacher, she often replaces her to manage the class very well and in order. Tra My is also an active cultural nucleus of the class and the school. She sings very well and dances very beautifully.
Saying goodbye to Tra My, what remained in me was admiration for the efforts of the little student; overcoming all difficulties and hardships to strive to study and train to become a leader in all movements...
