The talented student

(Baonghean) - After a long wait, I finally met Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh who had just returned from the National Festival of Culture - Vietnam - Sports of Ethnic Boarding Schools. Ngoc Anh is one of two students from the Provincial Boarding High School No. 2 who participated in the Math competition at the Festival and won a Gold Medal.

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh was born and raised in a farming family in Hoa Binh village, Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district. Like her peers, at the age of 10, she already knew how to sow seeds in the fields, helping her parents to reduce their burden of worries. Rural life is difficult, every time the villagers are sick, they have to travel dozens of kilometers with many dangers to get to the district central hospital for treatment. In Anh's heart, she dreamed of becoming a doctor to examine and treat the villagers. That dream motivated the young student to constantly strive to improve in her studies. Among the subjects, Ngoc Anh likes Math the most. And that love gradually turned into passion when she was tutored by Mr. Le Xuan Tu - a neighbor.

In grade 4, in the district's excellent student competition, Anh won third prize in Math. Not satisfied with that achievement, Anh continued to make efforts and continuously in grades 8 and 9, she won second prize in Math at the district level. Anh's Gold Medal in Math in the 2014 National Festival of Culture - Vietnam - Sports for Ethnic Boarding Schools recently contributed to the second prize achievement of the whole province. Confiding with us, Ms. Tran Thi Lien - homeroom teacher of class 11A1 and also the person who guided and trained Ngoc Anh in Math, said: "Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh is a diligent and very bright student. She has a passion for Math, so she always perseveres in finding ways to solve new and difficult problems. Her efforts in studying and practicing are very high."

In addition to her outstanding math achievements, Anh is also a regular member of the "Suoi Ngan" magazine compiled by the school. Anh said that writing is a way to make her more relaxed when dealing with numbers in mathematics. When she is stressed and homesick, she often expresses her feelings through writing. Not only is she good at math and literature, but Anh also actively participates in the art and sports movements of her class and school. She is the core dancer in the school's art team, a badminton and volleyball player in her class...

With her intelligence and efforts, hopefully Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh will realize her dream - to become a doctor to examine and treat the villagers in the future.
