Poor student with dream of 'conquering the universe'

(Baonghean.vn) - Born into a family with difficult circumstances, Phan Dinh Linh Chi, in Tho Loc hamlet (Nghia Loc commune), is currently a 9th grade student at Nghia Dan town secondary school, making many people admire her.

OutsideWith an impressive record of being an excellent student for 8 consecutive years, in the 2016-2017 school year, Linh Chi also won first prize in the Math and Chemistry category of Nghia Dan district. Not only that, at the 3rd national "Conquering the Universe" competition, organized by the Central Youth Union in Hanoi, she won an Encouragement Prize.

Although her family is poor, Linh Chi has never been discouraged. Her mother is a teacher.Dinh Thi Nho has been a childHaving lost a leg due to an accident, Linh Chi's life and work were very difficult. To earn money to support her life and send her children to school, Linh Chi's father had to go to Laos to work as a hired hand.But after my dad had only been working for a while, my mom got thyroid cancer, uterine cancer, breast cancer... and her condition got worse and worse, so recently she had to...frequentlong-term treatment in Hanoi. All the money the couple earned and saved was spent.

Faced with the family's difficult circumstances, in 2011, the Education Trade Union of Nghia Dan district launched a campaign, called for and raised over 20 million VND to renovate the house.on the land of my grandparents for my family.Since then, my family's living conditions have become less difficult. However,The two children grew up, the cost of education increased so the family's finances became more and more difficult.

Linh Chi's brother is Phan The Vuong, a former student majoring in Chemistry at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, currently studying at the University of Natural Sciences - Hanoi National University. The two brothers often encourage each other, trying to bring joy and motivation to their parents, the only way is to study hard and achieve high results, looking for scholarships to help ease their parents' burden.

In order for their daughter to have better conditions for studying, after finishing grade 7 in Nghia Loc commune, her parents had to send Linh Chi to her uncle's house in Nghia Dan town to stay and study. At Nghia Dan town secondary school, Linh Chi continued to maintain her academic achievements, maintaining the title of an excellent student; at the same time, she continuously won high prizes in competitions for excellent students in Math, Chemistry, English exchange, Interdisciplinary knowledge application... at the district level. Notably, at the "Conquering the Universe" competition organized by the Central Youth Union for the third time in the 2016-2017 school year, Linh Chi was one of two members of Nghia Dan district to win prizes, bringing honor to the district.

In addition to the knowledge learned in class, Linh Chi spent the rest of her time learning through books, finding teachers to answer questions, participating in knowledge exchange competitions online... From a shy girl, Linh Chi has gradually improved her studies and become more confident. With high academic achievements and being loved by teachers, Linh Chi was elected as the class monitor and the school's Youth Union leader.

Ms. Pham Thi Mai Loan - Linh Chi's homeroom teacher said: Linh Chi is an excellent student of the school, in class she is very close, sociable with friends, polite with teachers. As the deputy class monitor in charge of studying, Linh Chi participates in almost every movement, including MC for class and school programs. Last school year, Linh Chi won high prizes in the district-level excellent student contest in Math and Chemistry and is currently on the district team to compete in the upcoming provincial excellent student contest in Chemistry.

Linh Chi shared: "My biggest thought is to study well to make up for my parents' efforts. My favorite subject is Chemistry. Currently, I am focusing on reviewing for the district team to prepare for the provincial Chemistry competition. I hope to win a prize to follow in the footsteps of my brother, who is a Chemistry major at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted"./.
