Development opportunities for the construction materials manufacturing industry

(Baonghean) -Unburnt building materials and green building materials are the inevitable choice for the development of the construction industry in the future. Therefore, building materials manufacturing enterprises are very "interested" in this new development direction. Nghe An is the destination of investors because of its rich resource advantages.

Green construction materials for green buildings

Dr. Ha Le - former Director of the Department of Construction and currently Chairman of the Nghe An Construction Materials Association, is passionate about the topic of research, production and application of green construction materials. He has "connected" with ministries, branches at the Central level and enterprises with experience in the field of production of green, unburnt construction materials nationwide, recently organized at the Green Construction Materials Scientific Conference for Green Buildings, attracting many leading scientists in construction materials to participate. This effort not only helps all levels, branches and people in Nghe An have the opportunity to access new scientific and technological advances in the production of green construction materials, but is also a "lever" to attract investors to produce new technology construction materials to exploit the rich resources in Nghe An.

Nghe An is an ideal place for investment in the development of green construction materials, because it has abundant natural materials such as basalt soil and rock and traditional binder such as basalt lime. In addition, there are abundant natural silicate sources as well as natural organic materials such as agricultural and industrial waste... After a period of research, based on lime binder - Puzolan (in which Puzolan includes soil and rock in Phu Quy area) along with some natural minerals such as white clay in Hung Tay, Dai Son area, Laterite soil in Nam Dan area, Silic high in Nam Loc area, Thach Ha sea sand and rice husk products, salt wastewater, paper mill wastewater..., our province has successfully produced green construction materials (no Poortland cement, no chemical compounds, lime amount used is not more than 15%). Currently, the technology for producing mixed silicate - inorganic polymer binders has basically been completed. With this success, it can be affirmed a new direction to accelerate investment projects in the production of green construction materials in Nghe An.

"A hundred hearings are not as good as one seeing", Nghe An Construction Materials Association decided to invest in building 2 high-rise buildings in 2 different regions (in Thai Hoa Town and Cua Lo Town) to verify the impact resistance of the environment, wind, storms... Producing green construction materials that are friendly to the environment, reduce power consumption, consume less resources, use recycled materials... is a common trend for construction needs in the near future. Not to "lose at home" in 2012, on the potential land of Nghia Dan, a joint factory producing green construction materials will be born. It is also expected to build a green resettlement village in Nghia Dan and thus, green construction materials for green houses are opening up many new opportunities for the construction materials production industry in our province.

Dr. Ha Le said: The need to orient the green construction materials technology for green architecture and construction suitable for the conditions of Vietnam and Nghe An is more urgent than ever, to quickly limit manual brick kilns, indiscriminate exploitation of resources, violations of waste...

New direction for business

The trend of producing green and clean construction materials, protecting human health is the goal of the construction industry. Hoan Thanh Architecture and Construction Joint Stock Company is very active in coordinating with Nghe An Construction Materials Association to conduct research on utilizing green materials from Basalt soil to produce construction bricks, tiles, and paving bricks and is experimenting and applying this green technology to floor panels and wall panels. Dr. Le Van Thang - Head of the project said: Although the load-bearing characteristics of panels and tiles are different, it can be solved by applying many approaches such as the solution of classifying the scope of use, determining the optimal size of the panel, combined with the solution of further increasing the strength of the material, increasing the tensile strength, structure... These green products will be tested and further improved with the best quality before being launched on the market.

Him Lam Pha Din Joint Stock Company has recently cooperated with Nghe An Construction Materials Association to select some local mixes and additives to create some mixes for natural concrete and prepare them in dry mortar form for the convenience of users. The product has met the strict technical requirements of large projects. This success helps businesses save production costs, ensure project quality and more importantly, contribute to effectively exploiting the abundant green raw materials in the locality.

Vietnam Cement Industry Group is also very "keen" on a large investment project in Hoang Mai, which is a non-fired brick production line exploiting local raw materials. ASEM Construction Joint Stock Company, Hung Nguyen Brick, Tile and Construction Joint Stock Company... are also actively researching and approaching green construction materials production technology.

Nghe An and especially Vinh City, the urbanization rate is getting faster and faster, and thus, the demand for construction materials is also increasing. To meet that demand, developing the green construction materials industry is a suitable choice. However, in order for these new products to gradually replace traditional construction materials, there needs to be a reasonable policy mechanism to attract investors, and to strengthen propaganda to clearly see the practical benefits of the products.

Nghe An is a region with a lot of basalt rock with the total reserve of the whole region up to 250 m3Basalt soil and rock are concentrated in the Northwest region, such as: Nghia Dan, Thai Hoa town, Quy Hop... Taking advantage of local basalt soil and rock resources to make construction materials is an advantage to reduce product costs.

According to the definition of the United States Green Building Council (UCRBC), "green houses" are "buildings designed and built to reduce or eliminate their negative impacts on the environment and people in five areas: Sustainable site planning; Water conservation and water efficiency; Renewable energy efficiency; Conservation of materials and resources; Indoor environmental quality".

Green materials are important to know how to use recycled materials or less energy-saving materials to reduce environmental damage, affecting yourself and your life.
