With a brand name, Quynh Luu dried squid consumes nearly 1,000 tons/year.
(Baonghean.vn) -After being granted a trademark certificate by the Department of Intellectual Property - Ministry of Science and Technology, dried squid products of Quynh Luu district further affirmed their position in the market.
Son Hai Commune is the "cradle" of Quynh Luu dried squid; the whole commune has a relatively large fleet of 260 vessels, mainly engaged in squid fishing.
Quynh Luu dried squid is famous for being delicious, chewy, and has a beautiful yellow color, so it has long been trusted by people inside and outside the district. According to the fishermen, the squid is not scratched after being caught, but is cut open and dried directly on the boat by workers, so it retains its nutrients. Therefore, when customers enjoy it, they will feel a sweeter and more fragrant taste...

According to Ms. Bui Thi Thao, owner of a seafood facility in village 5, Son Hai commune: Since the exclusive squid brand has been affixed on the packaging, people in the coastal area of Quynh Luu no longer have to worry about others copying or counterfeiting their products. Squid suppliers and agents sell their products quickly, sometimes "out of stock" and cannot supply enough to the market.
This is a favorable opportunity for local people. With the characteristic of drying squid right at sea, without flies, mosquitoes or dust, when the boat docks, the dried squid is quickly packaged and stored in the freezer, so it is very clean.
With such advantages, after announcing the collective brand of Quynh Luu dried squid, customers have trusted it. At the same time, it creates a legal basis for fishermen to feel more secure in investing in production and business.

Mr. Hoang Son - Vice Chairman of Son Hai Commune People's Committee said: "Quynh Luu dried squid in general and Son Hai commune in particular have had a position in the market in recent years, but after being recognized as a collective trademark, the product's quality and reputation have been further affirmed to consumers, creating motivation for fishermen specializing in squid fishing in the open sea. Thereby, not only bringing high income to families but also creating more jobs for many workers, gradually improving the local economy".
Every year, Quynh Luu district sells nearly 1,000 tons of dried squid to the market. In order to export this typical product to new markets, the Association of Dried Squid Production and Trading will continue to recruit more members, strengthen propaganda, promote the image and brand of the product.
