Indonesian rescue agency denies finding QZ8501 black box

The director of Indonesia's National Search and Rescue Agency, Bambang Soelistyo, has denied reports that divers have found the black box of the crashed QZ8501 plane.

Speaking at a press conference at his office in the capital Jakarta, Mr. Soelistyo confirmed that the black box has not been found and so far, divers have only detected signals believed to be from the black box of QZ8501 emitted from the bottom of the sea.

Mr Soelistyo also said a new ping signal was detected by the Indonesian survey ship Baruna Jaya I 1.9 nautical miles from where the plane's tail was found.

Mr Soelistyo also revealed that the search team had discovered objects that looked like “wings and engines” of the plane.

Previously, it was reported that Indonesian divers found the black box of AirAsia flight QZ8501 that crashed in the Java Sea of ​​this country on December 28.

A senior official from the Indonesian Ministry of Transport confirmed that divers from the country's navy had found the important equipment.
