Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) works in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) -On April 16, in Vinh City, the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (JICA) worked with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on issues related to agricultural development cooperation.

Attending the meeting, on JICA's side were Mr. Satoshi Yamamoto - Senior Project Formation Advisor - JICA Agricultural University Project on Rice Varieties, other project staff members, on Nghe An's side were representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Industry and Trade, Vinh City... Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired.

At the meeting, delegates heard about the agricultural development situation of Nghe An, the shortcomings of the agricultural sector as well as proposals from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in areas requiring cooperation.

JICA also presented projects that JICA is supporting in provinces and cities of Vietnam, aiming to improve the output and quality of agricultural products in Vietnam. The delegation proposed a comprehensive agricultural survey in Nghe An, and proposed to implement a new project in Nghe An: "Technical cooperation according to the survey model". The two sides discussed issues and information that both sides were interested in.

After listening to the opinions, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong thanked the delegation for their attention to Nghe An. He said that this was a continuation of the working program on January 21, 2014, and highly appreciated the delegation's urgent and responsible working spirit in the survey and assessment of agriculture in Nghe An. From the opinions of JICA, he concluded: Nghe An hopes that JICA will support the province to implement the projects that JICA is implementing in Vietnam. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the standing agency for agriculture of the province, to coordinate and connect with JICA to soon implement the project in Nghe An.

After the meeting, the delegation will go on a field trip to some industrial crop and vegetable growing areas of the province.
