“The man in the red shirt and the man in the white shirt are also suspects,” spokesman Prawut Thawornsiri said in a television interview, referring to two men seen in video footage of the suspect in the yellow T-shirt who is wanted.

General Prawut Thawornsiri said at least one of the accomplices may have been sitting on a bench inside the Erawan shrine waiting for the suspect to arrive.

The other guy probably showed him where the bomb was.

Mr Prawut said he hoped the main suspect was still in Thailand, as customs authorities had been put on full alert at all airports and border crossings.

With the release of the suspect's image, customs officers will have the additional support they need.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Chan-o-cha affirmed that Thailand does not need outside help to investigate the bombing. He believes in the police's investigative ability to solve the case.

Court issues arrest warrant

Mr Prawut also added that the Thai Criminal Court has approved an arrest warrant for the yellow-shirted suspect, who is believed to have planted the bomb at the Erawan shrine.

The police general confirmed that the arrest warrant was approved by the Southern Criminal Court, based on a request from the Royal Thai Police.

The suspect, a foreigner identified based on security camera footage, faces charges of bombing and murder, Prawut said, according to the arrest warrant.

Thai police have offered a reward of 1 million baht ($28,000) for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
