Recently, the appearance of images of the national flag, traditional ao dai and Ben Thanh market in a music video broadcast on Channel V - the world's leading music channel - is causing a stir among Vietnamese youth.

“It is interesting to see the country's symbols on an international TV channel,” said Nguyen Thi Ha, a student at Ho Chi Minh City University of Culture.

The video clip in question is the song Stronger by the winner of “American Idol 2002” Kelly Clarkson. The nearly 4-minute video shows optimism, a strong rise and “a recovery after the end of a bad relationship” - according to British music critics.

In it, the video filmed in Ho Chi Minh City is interspersed throughout with images of a group of Vietnamese youths dancing together, with a girl in a shirt printed with a red flag and a yellow star standing in the center, next to another girl in a traditional ao dai.

The background of the segment filmed in Vietnam is none other than Ben Thanh market - one of the symbols of Ho Chi Minh City.
