Gambler died from drowning

Discovered by a patrol team while gambling, a subject jumped into the river but later drowned.

On the evening of November 28, Ninh Binh Provincial Police officially informed about the case of a subject participating in gambling but drowned while fleeing when discovered by the police.

Information from Ninh Binh Provincial Police said that at around 11:00 p.m. on November 25, 2017, the patrol team of Gian Khau Industrial Park Police Station (Gia Vien District) coordinated with Gia Tran Commune Police to patrol and control the commune and discovered at the foot of Gian Khau Bridge 3 motorbikes (License plate 17M2 - 33xx, License plate 37L1 - 356.xx, License plate 16N7 - 04xx) but no one was watching them.

After that, the working group searched for the owners of the 3 motorbikes and discovered that the ship T. Th. (a ship carrying construction materials for the Gian Khau bridge, anchored near where the 3 motorbikes were parked) had a light on, so they got off to ask about the owners of the 3 motorbikes. At this time, some people on the ship suddenly ran to the barge next to it.

When checking the ship, a man named To Duy Song (born in 1991, in Hai Phong city) was found in the ship's hold with a plastic mat, a set of cards and 450,000 VND (under the mat).

To Duy Song confessed that before the patrol team got off the ship, Song was gambling with four other people: Nguyen Van Tuan (born in 1993, in Hanoi), Nguyen Tien Manh (born in 1988, in Vinh Phuc province), Phan Dinh Hoang (born in 1993) and Nguyen Sy Son (born in 1987), all from Nghe An province. All of them were workers at Bridge 17 Enterprise, under the Traffic Construction Corporation I.

During the investigation, the patrol team drew up a record of violations, seized evidence, and coordinated with the above enterprise and people around Gian Khau bridge area to search for the above 4 subjects.

A while later, the working group discovered Nguyen Van Tuan swimming in the river, so they coordinated with the security guard of the Gian Khau bridge construction unit to throw a life jacket and bring Tuan to shore. At 0:00 on November 26, Nguyen Sy Son went to the Gian Khau Industrial Park Police Station to surrender.

Gian Khau Industrial Park Police Station mobilized maximum force, coordinated with people to search for the remaining two subjects.

However, at 3:30 p.m. on November 27, authorities found Nguyen Tien Manh dead from drowning near the foot of Gian Khau bridge.

Gia Vien District Police requested an autopsy for Nguyen Tien Manh, but the family refused the autopsy, so the body was handed over to the family for burial according to regulations.
