Con Cuong: Arranged to be on duty at key points, helping people prevent storms
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Hoang Dinh Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Cuong district said: On the afternoon of November 8, the district sent an urgent telegram to 13 communes, towns and units located in the area to proactively prepare plans to prevent storm Haiyan.
On the afternoon of November 9, the district People's Committee held an urgent meeting with the district's flood and storm prevention steering committee to assign specific tasks to each member in charge of the area. For Con Cuong district, the biggest concern is flash floods occurring in the communes of Binh Chuan, Thach Ngan, Don Phuc, Mon Son... The district assigned the police and military forces to directly go to key communes to coordinate with local authorities to proactively evacuate people when necessary. Currently, localities in the district have prepared on-site forces and at the same time propagated on the loudspeaker system about the developments of typhoon Haiyan so that all people can grasp and proactively brace their houses to cope with the super typhoon.
In Mon Son commune, the "flood center" of Con Cuong district: From the afternoon of November 8, the commune's flood and storm prevention steering committee, including the chairman and vice chairman of the commune People's Committee, and representatives of the commune's Party Committee, held an urgent meeting to deal with storm Haiyan. Local forces from villages were mobilized to guard key points such as Pha Lai dam, the bridge over Nam Son village, and some low-lying areas in Tan Son and Thai Son villages. These are places prone to flash floods, to prevent people and students from subjectively crossing streams.
Don Phuc Commune is a basin area along Khe Phen stream, so it is prone to flash floods. Head of the commune's flood and storm prevention command Vi Van Duc said: People in all villages have been informed to proactively cope with the storm, especially households living along the stream and households farming on the fields. The stream section through Hong Dien village, which is prone to flash floods, has been assigned to guard the area.
The Border Guard forces at the two posts of Mon Son and Chau Khe also held a meeting on the morning of November 9 to establish a flood and storm prevention committee to coordinate with the people to prevent and overcome the consequences of this storm. Particularly at Chau Khe Border Guard Station, the flood and storm prevention force of 18 comrades was deployed in key areas such as Khe Nong village, Diem village, and Chau Dinh village.
