(Baonghean.vn) - Up to now, Con Cuong district has over 260 hectares of oranges ready for harvest. Oranges are grown in large quantities in Yen Khe, Bong Khe, and Chi Khe. With the price of oranges at the beginning of the season being 25,000 - 30,000 VND, and at the end of the season being 45,000 - 50,000 VND, 1 hectare of oranges earns 300 million VND.

Con Cuong oranges are being invested in to create late-ripening varieties.

After deducting expenses, 1 hectare of oranges earns a profit of 150 - 200 million VND/year. Thanks to orange growing, people in Tan Huong, To (Yen Khe), Quyet Tien (Chi Khe) and many households in Bong Khe, Con Cuong Town have become rich. The new orange varieties that people have brought back to grow are V2 orange, Van Du orange, Xa Doai orange...

With suitable soil and good fertilization, Con Cuong oranges are famous for their sweet aroma and are favored by consumers. The orange season is from late October to December and now Con Cuong is applying science and technology, investing in planting late-ripening oranges for harvest in January and early February. Con Cuong is mobilizing people to expand the orange growing area to the communes of Thach Ngan, Mau Duc, and Don Phuc. In 2016, Con Cuong has carried out 50 hectares of disease-free oranges.
