Con Cuong strengthens land reclamation and restoration to serve production
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to increase the production land area for ethnic minorities, Con Cuong district promotes land reclamation and restoration work.
In 2012, the district reclaimed 70 hectares and restored 26 hectares. In Chom Lom village, Lang Khe commune alone, 40 hectares of reclaimed land were used to grow sugarcane, peanuts covered with plastic, and some areas will grow high-quality Japanese sweet potatoes.
The first sugarcane crop in Chom Lom village, Lang Khe commune grew well on the newly reclaimed fields.
Currently, nearly 20 hectares of sugarcane grown on newly reclaimed land in Chom Lom are growing well, promising high economic efficiency. The total reclaimed and restored area in Con Cuong issupport funding of 10 million VND/ha for reclaimed land and 5 million VND/ha for restored land, according to Decision No. 59 of the Provincial People's Committee on a number of poverty reduction policies and mechanisms in the Program to support land reclamation and restoration for farmers in communes with 30% or more poor households (except districts implementing Resolution 30a/CP). In 2013, Con Cuong district continued to direct functional departments and communes to strengthen land reclamation and restoration work to have more cultivated areas for farmers.
